When you request a copy of your personal data (GDPR) via the Too Good To Go app or our privacy portal, the information is provided in a JSON (.json) format. This is a standard data format that is easily readable by computers but may require specific steps to view on a personal device.
How to Open Your Data File
If you are having trouble opening the file after downloading it, please follow the steps for your specific operating system:
On Windows
- Locate the downloaded file in your folder.
- Right-click on the file.
- Select Open with.
- Click Choose another app and then select More apps.
- Choose Notepad from the list and click OK.
On macOS (Mac)
- Locate the downloaded file in Finder.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the file.
- Select Open with.
- Select TextEdit from the list.
Quick Troubleshooting
- File Format: Your data is delivered as a .json file. This is text-based; if it looks like a wall of code, that is normal.
- Mobile Devices: It is highly recommended to open these files on a desktop or laptop computer, as mobile phones may not have a native "text editor" to display JSON data clearly.
Data Request: If you haven't requested your data yet, you can do so directly within the Account Settings of the Too Good To Go app or via our Privacy Portal.
